Services - Trash Rakes / Stop Log Systems

Energy by Native American Design is an Authorised dealer for Atlas Polar for sales to customers, to sell directly to accounts related to the government, and to promote to the best of its ability the sale of such products.

Atlas Polar has designed and manufactured ST9000, HB9100, DT9300 and Log Puller parts and accessories related to the brand names of Hydrorake products in Canada since 1974. State-of-the-art Atlas Polar waterway debris cleaning and control systems have kept water flowing in the most extreme conditions – 24/7 – at more than 400 installations across North America. For over 40 years, they’ve been proven to dramatically increase flow efficiency, reduce operations and maintenance costs, and improve safety and morale at water intakes, hydroelectric dams, irrigation canals, and fish ladders.

Trash Rakes

The Atlas Polar trash raking system cleans any gauge screen or bar rack. Installation upstream provides space for trash removal and deck access for personnel. The fully automatic system replaces handraking, which is still the most common method of rack maintenance. The Hydrorake imitates this action automatically 24 hours a day even in the coldest weather.

Stop Log Systems

The Atlas Polar Stop Log Lifter is now established as an effective and efficient way to secure and remove logs, stack logs and retrieve and replace logs in the sluiceway.

Before the hydraulically operated Atlas Polar Stop Log Lifter System was developed the function of stop log control was performed by hand cranked winches which have their lifting hooks manually engaged in the log dees or by thrown grapples.

The work was physically demanding and hazardous, especially in adverse weather conditions, often leading to low crew morale. Further, the manual method required the use of peavies to handle logs on the dam top and when replacing them in the gains.

When compacting logs in the sluiceways the usual method called for a strongback set across the underside of the sluice opening and a heavy duty jack to provide downward thrust to ensure a seal off. This procedure has been known to raise the dam deck at the point of application, not to mention requiring some agility on the part of the crew which could number up to six men when changing logs.
